While homosexuality is legal in Monaco, there are very few legal protections. Gay marriage has not been legalized, and there is “close to zero” gay nightlife. There are some reports of government officials making homophobic remarks, and seems to be little pressure to change the existing laws. The lack of an LGBT community throughout Monaco has resulted in a serious lack of pressure on the administration to further recognize LGBT rights. Monaco desperately needs to advance its stance on SGM people and more research needs to be done regarding the status of them in Monaco.
