There is very little research or data available on sexual and gender minorities in Guinea. It is one of the few former French colonies in which homosexuality is still illegal (Awondo 2012). The law prohibits same-sex sexual acts of any kind, citing indecency. While reports indicate that not many are prosecuted under this law, SGMs in Guinea face extreme discrimination with no legal protections.
