Dr. Saxena (he/they) is a Licensed Psychologist in North Carolina with almost 10 years of experience providing therapy and assessment services. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology from Central Michigan University in December 2018. They opened their small business private practice, Transform Psychological Services, PLLC, in February 2020.
Dr. Saxena enjoys working with teens (ages 15+), adults, and partners/couples. As an openly queer and trans person of color, Dr. Saxena’s lived experiences of both privilege and oppression greatly inform his clinical practice. They infuse themes of social justice, anti-racism, intersectionality, decolonization, and feminism into their therapy work. Dr. Saxena has worked with the LGBTQ+ community for most of his clinical career, and has expertise in the unique issues faced by many transgender, non-binary, genderqueer, and other gender nonconforming folks. He is a proudly sex positive, kink-friendly therapist and has experience working with polyamorous/ENM/CNM clients.
Dr. Saxena tends to use a relational, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed approach with their clients. He continues to be humbled by the tremendous power that safe, supportive connection has to transform and heal the body, mind, heart, and soul. They also enjoy providing supervision and consultation for other health professionals.
In his free time, Dr. Saxena likes to snuggle with his cat, take long baths, tend to his houseplants, stargaze, and goof off with friends.
